Another Interstate Armageddon
Had an amazing time at the first interstate Armageddon, that I had to attend the second one too. Immediately after Sydney Armageddon I started making travel plans to get to Adelaide the next weekend. Flights were a little too expensive so I decided to road trip across, even found a friend to come with, saving costs. This is the first time I have road tripped interstate for an event. We made our own little adventure out of it, and it was good.
Volunteering as Door Bitch
Like the Sydney event, I also volunteered for Adelaide, which was just as fun as Sydney. I was once again stationed around the Media Guest area, but I was given the title of ‘Door Bitch’ for the weekend. I had the important role of holding the door open every time a guest needed a break outside. The door would lock from the outside so I had to hold it open so they could get back inside. As boring as it sounds, it was actually a lot of fun and I enjoyed myself.
I got some great opportunities to chat with guests, especially Colin Cunningham and Lance Hendriksen. Both of whom are real gentleman and lovely to chat with. I’m so thankful for attending this event I made some great memories and talked to amazing people. It’s something special when guests open up to you and talk about their personal lives, like their family. I’ll always remember those conversations. Always great seeing Bob visiting Australia too, we had to get a photo together in our Lance shirts.
More Interstate Mementos
Over the weekend I did managed to attend a few of the panels, specifically the Stargate panels. Rainbow Sun Francks, David Hewlett and Colin Cunningham were all amazing and hilarious. It was also amazing to see and spend time with Rainbow again. Always the sweetest guy and I always have a good time with him. He was probably my main reason for travelling to Adelaide, as he hadn’t been in Sydney.
I got myself a few photos at this event, I had to get another photo with Rainbow. The last one we had together was in 2005 so I had to get an updated one. I also go a photo with Lance because I had got to know him so well over the two weekends. I wanted something to remember it by. I also got another photo with Colin, because he was just so amazing I had to.
I got autographs from both Rainbow and Colin on their photos. In my photo with Rainbow he pulled a face and so I picked on him for it. He commented that he had McKay’s chin and of course had to share that with David. The two of them had a good joke about it, David picking on Rainbow back, it was great. Rainbow then autographed it with the chin comment, so I’ll always remember it.
Aftermath
The Sunday after the event the Gifts for the Geek boys had another aftermath function and it was amazing. This time Rainbow and Colin were there, hanging out with everyone. There wasn’t as much alcohol consumed this evening as there was the previous weekend. Still had an amazing time though.
Early the next morning my travel buddy and I started our trek back to Victoria. We made an adventure out of it and stopped at some wind farms on the way.
